No matter which grass you choose, both have passed the test of time to be the best grasses for southern lawns. Our grasses are weed-free, insect-free, and our thick turf makes it easier to install. Maintaining a healthy lawn is a yearlong process. Keeping that perfect lawn maintained with sod and turf from Dargan Turf Farm ensures that you will have exceptional grass for the duration of your property ownership.

Centipede

Centipede is a light green, low maintenance turfgrass that is very popular in South Carolina. It can be cut with a conventional mower and is aggressive enough to crowd out weeds and other grasses.

Centipede has low fertility requirements and grows well in full sun but adapts to moderate shade. It is very tolerant to high temperatures and high humidity.

Tifway 419 Bermuda

Tifway 419 Bermuda is a dark green, dense, and low growing (rhizomes and stolens) with root system that is extensive and very deep. It is more of a high-maintenance type grass and should be cut with a sharp rotary or reel mower.

This is a sun tolerant grass that prefers little or no shade. It can tolerate heavy traffic, and when injured, recovers rapidly. 419 Bermuda is good for commercial areas and stands up to the stress of professional sports and golf courses.
